In order to provide important information for our Migrants and Refugees, the Centre conducts a series of short seminars which are run by invited guest speakers.
A recent talk given by Advice Line Lawyers was most informative. Our Karen translator was available to provide appropriate language instructions. The participants were able to learn about applying for compensation following a Workplace injury and also information regarding the various aspects of any road accident. There were many questions answered at the close of the session.
AMES Australia recently presented our Seniors with Certificates of Appreciation for their active participation in the ACFE programs.
RMCN recently welcomed a visit from the Commissioner for Senior Victorians, Mr Gerard Mansour, who is a highly respected and passionate advocate for the needs of older people. Mr Mansour contributed significantly to industry capacity building, policy development and enhancement of services for older Australians.
Mr Mansour says a priority is the focus on quality of life, workforce participation and access to services for senior Victorians. This means maximising opportunities for all, including those who are marginalised or disadvantaged.
